YOU DON’T LOOK TOO SURE

Can you still not see the importance of good translation or interpreting?
We invite you to consult our FAQs so we can resolve your doubts.
If you can’t find your question there, please contact us. We’ll be delighted to answer you, with no strings attached.

A professional translator? Isn’t Google good enough?

Would Google Translate know how to translate “It’s the bees’ knees!” or “Brand spanking new” properly? Professional translators, on the other hand, have a really good understanding of things like wordplay, shades of meaning and jokes – something a machine will never be able to do.

A professional interpreter? But we have people at the company who speak English!

An interpreter is a neutral third party, absolutely objective in any negotiation or discussion. She will be accurate and impartial in her interpreting. She will put across not just the words, but also the tone and emotion of what people say.

Do you guarantee confidentiality?

Of course we do! All the materials we exchange with our clients are kept private. We comply with data protection regulations (the Spanish Personal Data Protection Act and Information Society and E-Commerce Services Act). We also sign confidentiality agreements with clients who ask us to.

It’s a very simple text. Why does it take so long to translate?

Translation is a laborious craft. We translate the meaning, tone and structure of the text to give a perfect reflection of its purpose. It’s important to let translations “rest” and edit them before delivery to ensure impeccable results.

Why do interpreters need documentation?

An interpreter needs to translate spoken language quickly and fluently and has no time to look up vocabulary during the event. To ensure the highest quality, interpreters need to study the subject beforehand.

It’s just four pages. Can’t you give me a quote on the phone?

To draw up a quote we have to consider various elements: length of document (number of words), the format (website, Word, PDF, etc.), the subject matter and the difficulty of the text – and the deadline, of course.

Why should I hire a professional editor if I’ve got the Word spellcheck?

Running the spellcheck is the first step, of course, but the system can’t do everything. A professional editor will be up to date with the current spelling rules and will rework confusing sentences that aren’t as catchy as you would want them to be.

Why are there two interpreters instead of one in the booth?

An interpreter needs full concentration to do her job. She should not be in the booth for more than an hour and a half. After that, her concentration lapses and she might make mistakes. That’s why two interpreters are needed, so they can switch over every 30 minutes.

Wouldn’t it be better to get rid of interpreting and do everything in English?

That’s an option, of course, but it’s worth bearing in mind that if you do that the proceedings will sound very flat, without the shades of meaning or the richness provided by people speaking their own language.

WHAT WE CAN DO FOR YOU

Translation means transferring a written text from one language to another. A good translation doesn’t “smell” like a translation, it looks like an original text written by a native speaker. To ensure the quality of our translations we have a team of trusted colleagues. It consists of professional translators and editors with broad experience in their specialist fields, always translating into their mother tongue.

Press releases, business correspondence, contracts, reports, catalogues, websites and presentations are among the documents we can translate.

Sworn translations are official documents (diplomas, birth and marriage certificates, notarised documents, etc.) that will have to be presented to a public body.

Spanish sworn translators and interpreters are authorised by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while Catalan ones are approved by the Government of Catalonia.

Interpreting is oral translation of a speech or meeting in real time. There are four forms of interpreting and each one meets very specific needs.

Liaison interpreting: this is recommended for bilateral meetings.

Consecutive interpreting: this is perfect for press conferences, speeches at banquets or short meetings.

Simultaneous interpreting: in this case, booths, audio equipment and receivers for the audience are required.

Chuchotage whispered interpreting: ideal when there is one person who does not understand the language of the meeting.

Sworn interpreting is used in cases where a suspect, witness or one of the parties in a case does not understand the language of the court. A sworn interpreter ensures a faithful, accurate translation of the evidence given.

Spanish sworn translators and interpreters are authorised by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while Catalan ones are approved by the Government of Catalonia.

This involves remote simultaneous interpretation or remote consecutive interpreting, depending on the method chosen.

Editing doesn’t just mean reviewing the spelling and orthotypography, but also the style of the text, its internal consistency and its suitability for the target audience of the communication.

OUR COMFORT ZONES

We love taking on new challenges and translating and interpreting in new areas really motivates us, but we think we should highlight the sectors where we have most experience.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME?

DIRT CHEAP

That’s not our style.

If we gave you a low quote we’d have to stop revising the translations or subcontract them to someone we can’t rely on.
The result would probably not be one you – or we – would be happy with.
